Meet John, the Maker Behind Horseshoe Crosses
Hi, I'm John, the maker behind Horseshoe Crosses.
I started bending horseshoe nails into crosses as a hobby in the early 2000s. My very first sale was to a Girl Scout troop for their fundraiser. Before long I was selling on eBay, where I became a Power Seller. I also taught myself web design and hand-coded my first website, CarolinaCross.com, back before there were easy web builders.
When I moved to Florida, I renamed the business Horseshoe Crosses. I've since moved back to North Carolina, where it all began, and kept the name.
I've been selling on Amazon since 2009, and I've made thousands of crosses since then. Today I make every one by hand at my bench in Hickory, North Carolina, from genuine steel horseshoe nails and color-coated copper wire.
I price my crosses fairly. Shipping is free on orders of $25 or more, and below that I keep the shipping charge as close to the actual postage cost as I can. I personally sign a thank-you note in every order, because each cross is going to someone's story.
Thank you for supporting handmade.
Blessings, John
